If you’re going to be anywhere near San Antonio, TX on August 29th, you might want to consider stopping in at GameStop Expo 2012 for a sneak peak at the multiplayer mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. While we’ve learned a ton about the single-player campaign mode of the next COD game, we know surprisingly little about the multiplayer mode. Gamers who attend the GameStop Expo in San Antonio will not only get to view the multiplayer mode before the rest of us, they’ll get to play it.
Along with Black Ops 2, gamers will also be able to check out other exciting releases that are due out later this year including God of War: Ascension, Assassin’s Creed 3, Far Cry 3, Skylanders Giants, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and numerous other big titles. There will only be a limited number of public ticket sales—this is the very first year that the event has been open to the public at all. Prices aren’t bad—$35.00 will get you in the door, but only if you purchase before spots sell out. You may also choose to pay $100 to receive a VIP pass which will allow you to hang out in the VIP gaming lounge, use shorter VIP lines to access events, and take advantage of other benefits.
The Black Ops 2 multiplayer mode will still be the meat of the game, even though the single-player mode is a big deal this year. Even with increased replay value, the single-player campaign mode isn’t what’s going to keep gamers entertained all year until the next COD game comes out—it’s the multiplayer mode that is going to be the real focus over the long term. So drop in on the convention if you can—we’ll let you know what we learn once the reports start coming in!
