Finally, after waiting and wondering for months what we’re going to see with Black Ops 2’s multiplayer mode, our questions are going to be answered. Activision has just announced that the reveal for the multiplayer mode of the next Call of Duty game is going to be presented on Tuesday, August 7. This is very exciting news to fans who so far have only really been treated to showcases of the game’s single-player campaign mode. And while the single-player campaign appears to be revolutionary in many ways, the multiplayer mode is still going to be the meat of the game.

Why is the multiplayer mode such a big deal? Players have complained in recent years that the single-player mode of COD games is becoming defunct since it has so little replay value. It usually only takes a matter of hours to get through the single-player campaign, which means that the long-term value of the game comes in the form of multiplayer gameplay. While Activision and Treyarch have taken pains to prove to us that the single-player campaign with branching storylines will have a lot more replay value than previous single-player campaigns, we know that it’s the DLC drops that will continue to inject life into the game over the next year as well wait for the next release from Infinity Ward. Multiplayer mode has always been and will continue to be at the center of the COD universe—so check back in just a few days for the reveal and our analysis!
