If you haven’t already seen it, you should check out the new Black Ops 2 “Villain Trailer.” This trailer features Raul Menendez, the antagonistic character in the game who has turned the robotic weapons of the US against its citizens. The trailer shows the mixed reputation of notoriety and idolization the villain enjoys and gives a glimpse into the complexity of his character, who was penned in part by the author of the Dark Knight villain, The Joker.
Treyarch has discussed recently how they have tried to make the game more complex than some of its predecessors by making the single-player campaign storyline more compelling and immersive. One of the ways in which they have done this is by introducing a more complex villain, one with whom the player of the game will have a complex relationship emotionally and in terms of gameplay. There will be a fair amount of unpredictability in the storyline due to the underlying complexities, which is why gamers will not necessarily see the long-term ramifications of the choices they make that influence the outcome of the branching storylines until those storylines unfold.
