Recently Treyarch’s been taking a lot of crap from certain PS3 gamers on the Call of Duty forums who claim that Treyarch favors Xbox 360 as a platform and doesn’t put as much work into their releases for other platforms such as PlayStation. David Vonderhaar, game design director at Treyarch, decided he’d had enough. He retaliated in some recent posts which have been taken down but are still cached.

Vonderhaar explained that many developers for PS3 and other platforms spend a lot of time on the forums, but they do not post for multiple reasons—one being that they are not supposed to do so, but the other being that they encounter so much negativity. “I don’t surround myself with people who blow smoke up my ass; and I don’t surround myself with people who hate on me, Treyarch, Treyarch developers, or the game. If you want developers on the forums and better communication, then clean up and self-police your community better.” Seems like a reasonable request—remember that without these developers, we wouldn’t have Call of Duty games on any platform, be it Xbox or PlayStation—and those developers who focus on providing a great game for PlayStation in particular don’t want to take abuse for their hard work.
